Lettuce Alone

See these cute little lettuce seedlings that Pinkie grew at "gool." Yesterday she put them down for a nap in the bathroom. I found this out when she told me I would have to go downstairs to use the bathroom. "The lettuce are sleeping in there mom, we have to be quiet."

I'll Flip for One

So I saw this cool camera on designmom yesterday and realized that it is exactly what I have been dreaming of. The only video camera we own, or hope to own is the video feature on my camera which records a beautiful clicking noise over all of my precious recordings.

Well I figured I could add this to my Christmas list, or let's see, I think Mothers Day is just around the corner, and what did you say... This camera is only $119 at Amazon?

Things I am dying to record:

  • Junior doing the Tomahawk Chop
  • Pinkie singing all day every day
  • Pinkie dancing, and Junior trying to follow
  • Junior taking me around the kitchen saying "hog gog" and shaking his head no at everything I try to offer him.
  • Junior saying "cheeeeese" when I get my camera out to take his picture
  • Pinkie letting Lola lick every square inch of her body.
  • Both kids attacking he-who-must-not-be-named the moment he lays down on the floor to relax.

I could go on and on - I really need one.

Tearin' It Up

The weather finally cooperated, and we got to start tearing up some of our lawn and turning it into garden. I am really excited because I think the raised beds are going to look really nice. They are located in our side yard right by our drive way, so they will be visible from the street, and we really wanted it to look good.

While we were working outside we kept the kids busy with a bucket of water and some foam paint brushes. This might be the best outdoor activity for young kids ever thought of. Too bad I didn't think of it myself. Pinkie has been doing it for a couple of summers already. She has been begging to "paint" for weeks now, and it was finally warm enough.

Of course Junior thinks he can do anything Pinkie can do, so he had fun too while mom and dad got a lot accomplished.

Corn Dog

Today I let Junior eat 3 corndogs. They are his new favorite. You know how when you are 16 months, you only want to eat your favorite food. How can I resist letting him eat them when he says "hog gog" over and over and over. I do need a plan for tomorrow however, since he ate all I had.

Childhood and Change

So lately I have been thinking how things have changed since I was a kid.

One of my favorite things growing up was playing at the pond. It is only a few blocks from my parents house, and we would walk there often to play. We loved to feed the ducks. Well now that same park looks more like an amusement park when you count up the people, and the ducks who used to follow you everywhere for your old, dry, crusty bread just swim away when you throw food at them because a googillion people have already fed them. We tried it anyway this weekend.

Maybe this picture says it all. My one year old loves to listen to his dad's ipod. Who would have guessed that small would be so cool. I remember when I was a teenager and my sister Jenny got a really big stereo. That was cool then, remember? I don't think I have ever been cool because I never had a big stereo, nor do I now own a small mp3 player of any kind. Ok my phone does play music, but it was handed down by Jenny, so I just mooch the music she put on it. I don't even know a cool song, or a cool singer.

I guess good old bubbles haven't changed much. Yesterday was so summery, we wore shorts and flip flops, played in water, rode in the wagon, got sunburned, caught a caterpillar, turned off the heater, opened the windows. Today it is snowing.

We bought Pinkie her first Book of Mormon over the weekend, only she will correct you and call it her "scriptures." I can't believe how excited she was for her own copy. It felt good that she knew how special they were. She looked at all of the pictures, and told us about each one. I did hear her however, telling my mom that the picture of Samuel the Lamanite was a man trying to kill Jesus. She is a little obsessed with the Jesus dying thing. This picture is of her randomly deciding to read her scriptures yesterday. After all of this excitement, I did have to take them away from her after she threw them at me. She really needed a nap at that point.

Spring Fever and Other Ailments

We have had it with winter. But it seems to be hanging around. This seems to have been the winter of being sick. Excluding February my kids have been sick at least once a month since October. Just yesterday I had Junior to the doctor - double ear infections.

We try to make it outside and play every day that is over 55 degrees, but they have been few. The problem is we go out one day, and then the next day is freezing, or raining or something. Then Junior cries "outside" all day long while pointing at the door, or bringing me his shoes. We really need to get a sand box this year. My kids have been digging in this section of the flower bed. Junior parked it there for about an hour the other day.

Pinkie did get a bike, in her favorite color. We actually talked her into the Princess one, over the sea star something or other bike. She insists on wearing the helmet which is a good thing. I am hoping this helps with her coordination and determination.

It looks like he-who-must-not-be-named is going to have some help cutting the grass this year. Doesn't he look handsome in those shades? They are one of his favorite toys.
